Joe & Kamala. Leaders we can trust & believe in.

Diné Equality, the largest Indigenous LGBTQ+ advocacy organization in the country announces our official endorsement of Joe Biden for President and Kamala Harris for Vice President. From his advocacy for strengthening hate crime laws in the late 1980s to Biden’s endorsement of marriage equality 8 years ago, Joe Biden’s decades-long record supporting LGBTQ+ people is both strong and multifaceted.

Throughout their campaign, Biden-Harris have committed to advancing LGBTQ+ equality if elected in November. Their campaign’s LGBTQ+ platform is the most comprehensive equality plan by a presidential nominee in our nation’s history.

“Vice President Joe Biden is the leader our Indigenous LGBTQ+ relatives need at this moment,” said Diné Equality founder Alray Nelson. “He has defended and fought for our equality, even when it was unpopular. Joe and Kamala will push our country forward and honor tribal sovereignty. The stakes could not be higher. Our LGBTQ+ relatives are vulnerable, we face discrimination and violence every day - just so we can simply be who we are. We will vote and urge Indian Country to do the same.”

Diné Equality is working alongside tribal lawmakers to introduce inclusive legislation that will protect the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and two-spirit communities from hate crimes and bigotry during these uncertain times post-COVID19. It is imperative that we support the candidates who share our core values and will be our champions. Our organization is organizing the Native American vote and will work alongside Sovereign Nations to ensure turnout numbers significantly increase this November - compared to 2016.
